Criminal Offenses (Crimes)

• Felonies
  A felony is an offense which is punishable by a sentence of imprisonment of more than one year, or a sentence of death for murder in the first degree.

• Misdemeanors
  A misdemeanor is an offense punishable by up to one year in jail.

Non-criminal Offenses

• Violations and Infractions
  These are offenses punishable by up to fifteen days in jail and/or a fine. They leave you with no criminal record, and convictions are sealed from the public.
